These trucks were manufactured for the British Army by Chevrolet in 1939 in Canada, under license from Ford. Vehicles of this type were shipped to Israel and used by the military during World War II.
Kibbutz Gvar’am acquired one such truck for agricultural purposes, including farm transport and shuttling workers to the fields.
Margot Katz, mother of Ami Katz—one of the founders of the Tractor Museum—was driven to the Kaplan maternity ward in this very vehicle. It was Ami’s first ride in the “Ford Canada,” but certainly not his last.
