Adler's Sprayer from Herut
Donated by Yaffa Havatzelet, Herut
This wooden sprayer stood in the yard of the Adler family in Herut, behind the chicken coops and facing the "The Next Generation's Quarter" that was being built in the early 1990s.
Arez noticed it and approached Yaffa Havatzelet (Adler's daughter) to ask for the sprayer for the museum. She immediately agreed but requested that it be inscribed with: "The Adler Sisters."
During the 1960s, Adler used this sprayer for his field crops and also provided spraying services to other moshav members. The sprayer was horse-drawn, with rubber hoses extending from it along the long rows in the orange grove. It had two pistons on its upper part that looked like soldier dolls to us. Once, the late Gadi Adler and Udi Guy tried to hold the belt operating the engine while it was running, and both lost a fingernail from the finger that touched the belt, finding themselves in the clinic.
