This piece was manufactured by the Electric Wheel Company of Quincy, founded in 1890 in the United States to supply wheels for agricultural machinery, wagons, and other equipment.

In 1888, the company secured a patent for an innovative method of producing metal wheels using electric welding—a groundbreaking technology invented just a decade earlier, in 1877, by Elihu Thomson.
